Milk MoneyHip-hop, Neo-soul. Matt Descotaoux and Gabriel Cruser combine forces to create a fun and romantic album. Born into a musical family Mathew has been singing and playing piano since age 6. He has both classical and jazz chops on the keyboards and has performed in many groups. Gabriel has been playing drums since age 11 and studied music all his life. He went on to earn a sound recording degree and now produces other artists as well as plays in bands of his own. Milk Money started with a simple collaboration. Matt had written a song for a friend who was on the show "making the band" in hopes to make some connections. It was an R / B song and he wanted a rap verse in it. Matt only knew of one rapper he wanted to work with, and it was the rhythmic wordsmith Gabriel Cruser. Gabriel was not really doing much rapping anymore. Generally board with the battle oriented, self hype, money obsessed stereo types of mainstream hip-hop, and the weirdo white boy, abstract, "I'm so deep" stereo types of underground hip-hop, Gabriel was exploring jazz and more melodic types of song writing. When Matt approached him with the idea to write a rap verse on this romantic R n B song, Gabriel saw it as an opportunity to share his floetry in a nicer context. The song was fun and unique. It never made it to "making the band", but it did give Gabriel the idea to start a project with Matt. With the beautiful singing and song writing of Mathew and the production skills and MC ability of Gabriel, a powerful duo was close at hand. Although Matt was business owner, a husband and a father of two, they decided to get together every Tuesday morning from 10am to 2 pm to start working on what would hopefully be one of their proudest musical endeavors. 10 months and 35 Tuesdays later, Gabriel and Matt have written over a dozen songs and are well on their way to finishing the first Milk Money album. Many other musicians have been included on these recording and it has turned into a full-blown studio album. Content about the elements of life and of love lost and gained. Growing and striving towards your dreams. Sarcastic acceptance of the difficulty of trying to fulfill your greatest dreams. This album was born of two men with ideals. One husband and father and one hopeless romantic. Penned on tuesday mornings over the period of 12 months, Milk Money is bringing you a classic. Expected to be released in Spring 09, Matt and Gabe are excited to share their music with the world. |
